Jason Mihalick
Jason Mihalick’s career in software started in 1990 at The Ohio State University. In 1994, he earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer and Information Science from the College of Engineering at The Ohio State University and graduated in the top of his class with Cum Laude distinction. Jason’s passion with software development began at Ohio State when he was introduced to writing computer programs on the Apple Macintosh Plus. (It’s fair to say that the Macintosh got Jason hooked on computers and computer software development.) He pursued writing software for the Macintosh platform until the mid 1990s, when he switched gears and took up writing GUI applications on the Microsoft Windows platform using Microsoft Visual C++. In the late 1990s, he transitioned again to writing software on the Java platform and has been passionately advocating Java ever since. Recently, Jason renewed his faith in the Macintosh platform and has been very happily depending again on the Mac for his day-to-day development needs. The Mac, he feels, is an ideal platform for Java software development.

Jason has always worked for small companies, and after several years working as a consultant for various firms in the Dayton, OH and Columbus, OH areas, he formed jCraftsmen in 2004 from an intense desire to work on challenging projects and have direct control over the company’s principles of operation.

Jason and his lovely wife, Carrie, have two wonderful children and in the late 1990s they settled on the family farm of Carrie’s parents near Gambier, OH. His family is a high priority for him, but when he’s not spending time with them he enjoys woodworking and golf. He also enjoys hiking, various computer hobbies, and gardening.
